American Impressionists

Susan Behrends Frank, Phillips Collection.

"This book provides a summary of American impressionism, starting with its roots in earlier American art and its relationship to French impressionism. It charts the response of many of these American artists to one of the most beloved moments in the history of nineteenth-century painting. Works by Childe Hassam, Ernest Lawson, Maurice Prendergast, and John Henry Twachtman are among the one hundred twenty works featured in this book showcasing thirty-six artists."--Jacket.
