Pour Ahmadou Kourouma

Justin Kalulu Bisanswa

Parution : 2025

What is new in this book is the rejection of labels when one reads Ahmadou Kourouma. The transparency of his novels is an illusion and invites a careful analysis of Kourouma's novelistic narrative whose built character translates a vision of the real. The novelist knew how to articulate social demands with the imaginary and the romantic. He cleverly united all the tonalities, closely combining the satirical element, the humorous element, and the legendary and mythical element. The book highlights the logic behind a polyphonic utterance in which multiple voices intertwine and intertwine in the narrative. The second meaning, opaque, embeds and questions the literal meaning. Two subjects face each other; the second judges the first. Two speeches are in coalescence; the second deconstructs the first. Postcolonial madness and chaos are connected with the colonial (rational) reason and absurdity that produced them. The disenchantment of Africa overcomes the colonial gesture. Revisited, the text of Kourouma illustrates its richness, its complexity and all its verbal power. It is an unpublished image of the writer that one discovers.--Translation of page 4 of cover by Honoré Champion.
