-- " "My name is Gabriel, like the archangel", he said, "but here in Germany it is a woman's name. What is your name?" "Galla is named in honor of the Empress Galla Placidia..." Since her husband left her, suddenly and without explanation, she spends her days on the couch, staring at the plants in the courtyard, fantasizing about throwing herself off the balcony to escape an unbearable pain which she blames herself for. She leaves the house only to see the psychoanalyst Anna Del Fante or to go to prison. "Since Doug left me, I'm only fine inside. I sing with ten other volunteers in a choir of drug addicted inmates. I also have to detoxify." During her first trip alone, to Munich, she accidentally enters a museum where a exhibition of the German painter Gabriele Münter is set up. Galla studied art as a girl... From that moment on, Gabriele's voice enters Galla's life: she torments her, and in the meantime tells her about her long love story... so similar to Galla's with Doug. While the dialogue between the two becomes more and more animated, Galla's path crosses that of two other of Anna Del Fante's patients: Bianca, a teenager who can no longer go to school, and Nicola, a compulsive seducer and victim of panic attacks..." --
